Boat Construction Rowing

Floating the Apple builds wooden row/sail boats in the design of the 25-foot Whitehall gigs which were popular in New York Harbor in the early years of the city's history.   The boats are either retained by Floating the Apple and used in youth and adult rowing programs, or donated to other non-profit rowing orgainzations.

Currently (Winter 2002) we are working on a new boat at the Pier 40 location at the end of West Houston St.  The sessions are scheduled for Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM.   If you are interested in participating, please contact Don Betts and Brendan Malone at floapple@aol.com.

Also, a project is underway at Worldwide Plaza on 49th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.  These sessions are taking place only during weekday afternoons at the moment, but a weekday evening session may be added.  If you are interested in participating, contact Mike Davis at (212) 564-5412.
