Free to the Public, Floating the Apple offers traditional, wooden boat building year round and maintains a small fleet for 5 crew, sweep rowing for all ages, seasonally. Boats are launched from its boathouse dock into the cove flanked by the awesome Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. A US Rowing member. We operate with the enthusiasm and expertise of adult and youth volunteers. Donations made to Floating the Apple, Inc. are tax deductible. We encourage the use of small, human powered boats we respect the need to have clean water, fresh air and quiet environment. Our Founding director, Michael K. Davis, died November 3, 2008. In his honor we dedicate the year 2002 web site - a history of Floating the Apple under his direction. When the Pier 84 boat house was still a dream and Hudson River Park had began to be constructed in Greenwich Village Segment first, then Piers 66 and 84 completed in 2006. We took occupancy of the 1st Boat House constructed in April 2004.
